![]() In this manner, only the hardiest survive and pass their genetics on to the next generation. As you can see in our Photo Gallery, we don't insulate our bees over winter - often leaving the "screen door" open all winter long. We find our "survivor bees" more interesting this way. Our primary focus is on producing survivor bees for our region regardless of their heritage. Honey bees can be purchased in the form of packages, nucleus colonies (nucs), or obtained in the form of a divide from an existing colony. We do not strive for purebred strains, nor can we guarantee what your bees may look like or genetic strains they may carry. Our bees are primarily a mixture of New World Carniolan, Italian, Buckfast, Russian and whatever other stock is in the area. As lifetime members of both the York County & PA State Beekeepers Associations, combined with our natural curiosity and willingness to experiment with new and sometimes seemingly-unusual beekeeping practices, we strive to continuously further educate ourselves and improve our bees.
